Darrell is a recognized leader in machine learning, big data, and standards of healthcare interoperability. His business experience enables him to effectively bridge the gap between technologists and business analysts and to implement solutions that draw on multiple scientific and technology disciplines.

Darrell has served as President of Elastic Knowledge and Chief Data Scientist at SocialCare. He was a key contributor to the development of the HL7 FHIR healthcare data standard and the application of machine learning to patient-focused, value-based care. Darrell played a key role in the ORION Object-Oriented database system, the Carnot enterprise integration system, and the InfoSleuth distributed agent system at the MCC research consortium, Scient, Docent, and Telcordia Technologies.

Darrell received a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Kansas and an M.S. in Computer Science from Kansas State University. He is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed technical papers.
